Alpha is a safe and inviting place to explore life and faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. Whether you’re just checking it out, new to faith, or just want to grow in your faith, you are invited!
Each session includes dinner, a short video and a discussion time where you can share your thoughts. At any point if you think Alpha is not for you, that’s not a problem. There’s no pressure, no follow up and no charge 🙂

– What is Alpha?
Alpha is a safe place to discuss and explore life and faith. We start the evening enjoying dinner together, make sure to come hungry! After dinner we watch a short video discussing a faith topic that is typically from a Christian perspective. Afterwards, we discuss the concepts mentioend and what are views are on the discussed topics.
– Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for all people, from all walks of life. Alpha has been attended by more than 29 million people in over 100 countries. Everyone gets something out of Alpha, whether thats a new found perspective, or even just some new friends.
– Is there a cost?
Alpha is a complimentary (free). You don’t need to bring anything other than yourself.
– How Many Weeks is Alpha?
Alpha is 8 weeks of consecutive discussions. Each discussion builds off the previous and it’s recommended to join as early as possible but please feel welcome to join in on whatever week you choose or are available.
– Do I need to register for all the weeks? Do I even need to register at all?
No and no! Simply show up, but adding the calendar event to your calendar is a great way of remembering!
– I have no faith or recognize myself as an atheist, should I come?
Absolutely. Alpha values everyone’s perspective. That’s the beauty of Alpha, a space where we can agree to disagree and enjoy eachother’s differences and perspectives.
– I have dietary preferences, How can I notify the host team?
We appreciate there are a wide range of dietary preferences and restrictions. Please feel free to contact us proactively using the ‘contact us’ button. We will strive to provide a suitable alternative for you.
– I have children, Can I bring them?
Unfortunately there is no childcare but you can definitely have your children join.
– I don’t know anyone going, is it OK for me to come alone? is it going to be awkward for me?
It’s totally ok if you don’t know anyone, we can assure you that you’ll know atleast 6 people by the end of the first evening you attend. The hosts at Alpha are some of the nicest and most hospitable people in Calgary, if there is any awkwardness, we can assure you that it will be gone by the end of dinner. Besides, sometimes it’s good to embrace the awkward or unfamiliar…thoughts?
